The final week of September and another edit themed mix for you. There may be a glitch in here, as there has been with one or two of the other mixes I've posted this year. Unfortunately my desktop is near 10 years old, and although it performs well, my Traktor software has moments where it will freeze, sometimes for as long as 30 seconds at a time. I've tried to get to the bottom of the issue and to fix it but no matter what I do the issue keeps cropping up, so not ideal but it is what it is.

Interest in the posts here, Twitter, Soundcloud, Mixcloud etc are as sluggish as ever. Things just haven't been the same since I jumped off the Facebook ship a couple of years back. As much as I'd love to drive up interest in order to try and boost my total a wee bit I just can't put aside the harm and damage the platform has done and continues to do. That said, if anyone visiting here is on Facebook (or any other social media) a share of my efforts is much appreciated.

As always, I will try and link up the tracklist as best I can but the nature of edits means they don't often hang around online for very long. I'd encourage you to seek out the original artists if possible though and perhaps pick up some of their catalogue. Also, I'm still banging this drum - these weekly mixes are posted in the hope that if listeners like what they hear enough, perhaps they may feel a small donation to the charity I am trying to raise a little funds for would be in order. All donations are much needed and hugely appreciated. 100% of funds goes directly to the charity - you can find out more on my Just Giving page [HERE].

#15 and still going with the edit based theme for the month of September. The last couple of mixes were around 100BPM, this one is stepped up a smidge to 110BPM and includes some lengthy tracks that I've really dug deep into the edit folder for.

As always, I will do my best to link to the tracks in the mix, you may need to do some digging online yourself though because many will be hard to come by, but I'd encourage you to pick up the originals of anything you enjoy, and maybe find more in the catalogue of the artists too. Of course, I have to add a reminder that my weekly posts are an effort on my part to try and raise some funds for the excellent work done by Sue Ryder - more information can be found and contributions made to my fundraising page [HERE].

Week 2 of a month of edit themed mixes, it should be fairly clear by now what's going on. No time for much rambles this week so straight onto the music.

As always, I will try and provide links to the tracks below the player where possible, if there's no link then maybe the Google gods will help you out. Of course, I would always encourage you to buy the music and support the artists, particularly the original artists. Also a reminder that I'm doing this year of weekly mixes to try and raise some much needed funds for the brilliant charitable work of Sue Ryder. The pandemic and the cost of living / inflation crisis we are entering have and will continue to cause a big problem for the third sector - any donations, however small, are much appreciated and needed. Donations can be made via Just Giving [HERE].

The month of August was all about House music, the month of September is all about the edit. The edit scene was very vibrant, active and quite probably over saturated 10 years ago. It had a bit of a community feel for a while but as the popularity grew so did the egos of some of those people in it. I won't be naming any names but I came across it often, probably aided by the explosion of Facebook, the rise of Soundcloud and the seemingly endless stream of online radio stations. Blogs, including yours truly also played their part. Ultimately the talent lay with the original artist and the music was rarely improved with an edit but what it did do was make some classics much more DJ friendly.

Although there is still an active core group putting edits out and nights on or airing radio shows it definitely isn't what it used to be and for me that's a good thing. Every man and his dog with a copy of Fruityloops or a bootleg of Ableton were throwing edits out, often coining it in with little merit in that and way too often without credit to the original artist. I could rant about much more, I could praise in equal measure, but the bottom line is that I'm still a bit of a sucker for an edit. So why not put a few mixes out?

As ever, I would encourage you first and foremost to purchase some music of the original artists if at all possible. I imagine the tracklists will be a bit patchy this month in terms of links for the actual edits I use but if you dig around the internet hard enough you may find some still floating around.

Of course, these weekly mixes I'm posting are in an effort to raise some funds for the wonderful work done by the charity organisation Sue Ryder. It's much needed after being heavily impacted by the pandemic and now the rising costs impacting every corner of life. Any donation, no matter the size, is needed and appreciated. Donation can be made via Just Giving  [HERE].

After a couple of donations a couple of months ago things have very much dried up, not just in terms of donations but also in terms of traffic here and plays via Soundcloud or Mixcloud. In all honesty I've been finding things increasingly difficult this year so I've definitely gone off the boil in terms of my own effort in promoting and engagement as a result. I've tried, without much success, to lift my game but I suppose it's all out there to see how I've been doing in that regard. So, having said that, should there be anybody reading this, any wee help or support to drive things forward would be much appreciated - a share or a plug on social media might just get the ball rolling again.
