The Summer Of Malcontent

11 November 2017

This one came just a month after the Chilled Spring: Recolo mix that I posted, and despite my feeling that it was a bit better than the previous mix, it's had just 10% of the number of plays that the previous one had. Go Figure.

Anyway, the title came from the fact that things just feel extremely unbalanced and difficult throughout the world at the moment, not just on a personal level. We've got Trump, the Tories, Putin, North Korea, terrorism in the news every other day, hardships being experienced by huge swathes of the population, the environment is becoming more unsettled with each passing year, greed and corruption throughout the world, inequality rife. It just seems like we're in this endless spiral of self destruction and it weighs heavy on my mind. The Summer Of Malcontent was a bit of a play on the Winter of Discontent which hit the UK in the 70's, among a seemingly similar downward spiral. Will we ever learn? I doubt it, but one can live in hope. That's all the little guy can do really.

There isn't any great story behind the picture. It's just a photograph I took of the trees I planted in my garden a few years ago, and I love playing around with various photo apps for my covers, so that's the simplicity of it.
